FUMC KIDS
From birth to 6th grade’s first semester
Have kids? No worries, we’ve got you covered. First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro offers amazing Sunday morning options for kids age birth through 6th grade. We are also thrilled for you to keep your kids in worship with you at any of our services. Children’s activities bags are available to keep your kids engaged too!
Volunteers at FUMC Kids have completed a background check and Safe Sanctuaries Training. On top of that, each kid get a printed name tag at checkin.
First time at FUMC Kids? No fear! Just come to the West entrance and the welcome desk is right there. We will meet your family and answer any questions you may have. We can’t wait to meet you! SUNDAYS
Nursery
A professionally staffed nursery is available for children birth through 3 years old during Worship service and Sunday School. Our nursery workers are well trained professionals who love children and help them experience the love of Jesus even at such young ages.
Worship
One of the main ways children learn to worship is by participating with the congregation. As they worship they learn about God and His people. We welcome all children of all ages to the sanctuary for worship. We have kids bulletins available for children as you enter the sanctuary. These materials have been designed to allow our children to worship during the service.
Children’s Church
We invite children ages 4 through 1st Grade to participate in Children’s Church following the children’s time in the worship service.
Sunday School
We have children’s Sunday School classes beginning with 3-year-olds through the 6th grade’s first semester. Trained and qualified Christian teachers lead our children, and classes meet beginning at 9:30 am. Sunday School attendance is encouraged so each child may receive a spiritual foundation built on Jesus.
Special Needs Ministry
At FUMC we want to create spaces for every family to feel included in the life and ministry of our congregation. Parents of children ages 4 years to 6th grade can request for their child to be matched with a trained buddy during the Sunday School hour. This ministry is designed for children who are neurodiverse, who might need additional behavioral support, and/or have physical limitations. Fellowship
Fellowship is a gathering where we play games, eat together, and have Bible study August through May on Sunday evenings. Each Fellowship meets from 5:00-7:00 pm. Please visit the church calendar for our schedule.

WEDNESDAYS
Choir
Children provide music in our worship services and put on a Christmas Program and Spring Musical. Children ages 4 to 6th Grade (first semester) are encouraged to join. Rehearsals begin in the fall each year.
Biblezone
After choir, children gather in classrooms to learn and experience God through a fun time of discovery, study, and crafts.
SEASONAL
Milestones
We provide Faith Milestones for kids age 3 to 6th grade (first semester) to help kids on their spiritual journey. Some of our milestones are Welcome to Sunday School, Touch & See My Church, and Bread and Juice Class.
Confirmation Classes
Children entering 6th Grade begin an exciting and challenging journey to become disciples of Jesus Christ. Confirmation classes begin in August with a service for all Confirmands, parents, and mentors. Thereafter, Confirmands attend classes during the Sunday school hour studying a series of lessons on their journey of faith. Afterward, Confirmands publicly affirm their faith into which they were baptized.
Easter Egg Hunt
Every spring we have our annual Easter Egg Hunt held the day before Easter on the church property. Toddlers through 5th grade come for a time of traditional hunting for thousands of eggs.
Children’s Sabbath
In the fall we have a “Children’s Sabbath” where every child 6th Grade and under is invited to attend a special worship service in the sanctuary designed especially for them. Many children participate in this service by reading the morning scripture, ushering, and singing.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is held for the children of our church and community each June. Emphasis is given to a Biblical theme by learning, singing, and creative crafts. A mission offering is received and given to our local missions.
Volunteer
Every volunteer in the Children’s Ministry has completed a background check and Safe Sanctuaries Training.

After the application is completed, someone will contact you to provide a background check, Safe Sanctuaries Training and the details of how you may be involved in the Children’s Ministry.
